Edge protection corners for load securing

Plastic edge protectors facilitate the securing and protection of cargo during loading, unloading, and transport. These corner protectors are available as either angled protectors or edge protector strips and are installed between the edge of the cargo and the webbing or strapping used. This protects corners and sharp or sensitive edges of the cargo from damage, as well as lashing straps, tensioning straps, and strapping from wear and tear. Plastic edge protectors offer several advantages over those made of cardboard, steel, aluminum, wood, or foam: they are lightweight, reusable, stackable, dimensionally stable, and weather- and temperature-resistant. Furthermore, edge protectors are an essential component of proper load securing, as their protective function ensures the integrity of the lashing materials.

Edge protection corners as part of load securing technology

The use of edge protectors is part of the "recognized techniques" for securing cargo. Therefore, their use is mandated by laws, regulations, and guidelines. Section 22 of the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) requires that cargo be secured during transport in such a way that it cannot roll, slip, or even fall off the load carrier. The law stipulates that the "recognized techniques" for load securing must be applied. These techniques are contained in regulations and guidelines and are part of European standards (DIN EN), publications of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), the VDI Guideline 2700, and information from the employers' liability insurance associations. DIN EN 12195-2 "Lashing straps made of man-made fibers" indicates that lashing straps and strapping bands must be protected from friction, abrasion, and damage from sharp edges by using protective covers and/or edge protectors. According to the DGUV (German Social Accident Insurance) information sheet "Metal Construction Assembly Work," lifting slings must not be pulled over sharp edges unless they are adequately protected by edge protectors. The German Social Accident Insurance Institution for Transport and Traffic (BG Verkehr) published the guideline "Loading and Securing" for professional drivers, which recommends the use of corner protectors to reduce force loss at the deflections of the strap or webbing and to protect the lashing materials.

Our plastic corner protectors are available in our online shop.

Edge protection corners sold by the meter

Due to their high level of protection, these plastic corner protectors are suitable for both heavy-duty transport and delicate soft packaging such as cardboard boxes stacked on pallets or furniture. A large contact surface and the innovative double-ribbed design of the edge protection profiles, made from extremely break-resistant honeycomb plastic, make them virtually indestructible. This load securing accessory is available in our shop in sizes of 120 x 120 mm or 190 x 190 mm, and in blue and orange. We offer this flexible edge protection strip pre-cut in lengths from 800 to 2,000 mm. Upon request, we are happy to manufacture custom dimensions to your individual specifications.

Jumbo edge protector

This black edge protector is available in a particularly robust design, made from durable and resistant polypropylene (PP). Raised load points on both sides of the corner protector distribute pressure evenly across the surface, while raised side panels ensure optimal guidance and fixation of the lashing strap. Whether for solid concrete components, wood, stacks of panels, or steel parts, Jumbo allows you to achieve high preload and reliably secure your cargo. This corner protector is available in black and with a leg dimension of 185 x 140 mm. These plastic corner protectors are compatible with lashing straps and strapping bands with widths of 25, 35, and 50 mm.

Plastic edge protection corners

This robust edge protector for heavy loads provides exceptional protection for the edges and corners of the cargo thanks to a hollow interior. Raised center ribs prevent friction for straps, and raised side panels secure the straps or lashing bands. Made of polyethylene (PE), the Jumbo is break-resistant, cold-resistant, dimensionally stable, and stackable. Protect is available individually or in sets of 60 or more with quantity discounts.

VW edge protector corner with elongated hole

These sturdy corner protectors offer protection, especially for vulnerable corners. The corner protectors are available with leg widths of 110 x 85 mm and 135 x 90 mm. This small corner protector is also suitable for machine loading (e.g., of cardboard boxes) and belt widths of 25, 35, 55, and 75 mm. The integrated elongated slots allow for direct connection to the belt, simplifying installation. These corner protectors are available in black and white, and can be purchased individually or in sets of 100 or more.

Our online shop offers numerous other versions of plastic edge protection, for example, specifically for beverage packaging or for big bags and sacked goods.
