Whether a load is stable (resistant to tipping) depends on the position of its centre of gravity. The higher the centre of gravity or the shorter its distance from the tipping edge, the easier it is for the load to tip over. For homogeneous loads, the centre of gravity is in the middle. For non-homogeneous loads, such as machinery, the centre of gravity should be indicated by a centre of gravity symbol.
