Adventurous constructions and direct screw connections to the loading area of the transporter or trailer are unprofessional and unsafe. However, if you want to retrofit lashing eyes to a van, you will usually need a lifting platform or at least a work pit.

Retrofitting lashing eyes in your van: what you need to bear in mind

Lashing eyes are usually retrofitted to the floor of vehicles. However, the mounting options vary greatly depending on the vehicle, model and manufacturer. Many buses and vans have 10 mm threaded holes in the floor area to which lashing eyes or even seats can be attached. These offer sufficient stability to allow lashing eyes to be retrofitted quickly and easily. However, if such holes are not available, the new lashing eyes should always be fastened with a suitable counterplate. This means that the floor of the vehicle must be drilled through. The counterplate must then be fastened so that it rests on the stable and load-bearing parts of the bodywork in order to ensure the highest possible tensile strength.

However, this is often difficult for beginners and laymen to assess. In this case, it is definitely recommended to visit a specialist workshop to retrofit lashing eyes.
