A lashing point is usually a ring or shackle that has been factory-fitted or retrofitted on or in the vehicle's loading area, usually in the loading floor. The hook of the lashing strap is attached to it. Each lashing point has a specific load capacity, which varies depending on its size, material and strength. The exact load capacity of the lashing point must be marked on the loading area of the lorry. The lashing equipment must therefore be selected accordingly.
The following table provides a rough guideline:
- Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of over 3.5 tonnes up to and including 7.5 tonnes can be secured using the lashing point 800daN.
- Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of over 7.5 tonnes up to and including 12.0 tonnes can be secured using the lashing point with a load capacity of 1,000 daN.
- Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of over 12.0 tonnes can be secured using the lashing point with a load capacity of 2,000 daN.
- Vehicles where the lashing point is installed in the front wall of the loading area can hold approx. 1,000 daN.
