CTU packing guideline
Due to the ever-increasing volume of goods being transported via various transport routes, more and more standards are having to be introduced to protect goods from damage during transport and to make working with these goods safer. In addition to internal regulations, there are also regulations laid down by the legislator. These regulate not only the framework conditions for the respective transport routes, but also requirements for packaging, correct labelling and proper loading, stowage and securing on CTUs. The abbreviation CTU stands for ‘Cargo Transport Unit’ and describes a transport unit. Due to the increase in intercontinental goods traffic, many packages and containers are also transported across multiple modes of transport. In addition to being transported by truck, the packages must also survive journeys on the high seas or in an aeroplane without damage. The CTU Packing Guideline is a further step towards establishing guidelines for packing cargo in or on transport units when transporting by all modes of transport by sea and land.
