Advantages of using rubber buffers for vehicles and loading ramps
Whether you are a professional driver or work in a company's goods receiving or shipping department, each of these individuals has encountered a special type of protective equipment at some point. We are talking about the small, inconspicuous helpers that can have a big impact on securing truck loads – rubber buffers. There are a whole range of possibilities for using such buffers, and as a rule they do not only have a protective function. It does not matter whether these ram buffers – as the protective rubber blocks are also called – are located on the vehicle or perhaps used as impact protection on a loading ramp. In both of these locations, they provide equal protection against damage. A rubber buffer attached to the rear of the vehicle protects the vehicle from damage if the driver misjudges the exact distance when approaching the ramp and collides with the wall. If there is a buffer on the ramp, it also fulfils this protective function. However, both buffers also protect the wall from damage that would be caused by the vehicle. However, such buffers do not only provide protection when driving a vehicle onto a ramp. Even when you are already standing on the ramp, these rubber buffers still have a protective function. When a vehicle is being loaded or unloaded on a ramp, the changing loads cause constant movement of the vehicle during this process. If the vehicle were in direct contact with the masonry of the building where the loading ramp is located, the movements would cause considerable damage to both the vehicle and the building. The use of suitable rubber buffers prevents the vehicle from coming into direct contact with the building. A sufficient distance is created. With the help of this distance, the vehicle can be loaded without fear of damage. However, such buffers also have other uses, particularly in the automotive sector. For example, buffers are also fitted to the rear doors of vehicles. If the doors are opened and hit the side of the vehicle body, these buffers protect the paintwork from damage. But rubber buffers can also have other uses in vehicles. For example, vehicles designed to operate with swap bodies use buffers that are intended to protect both the vehicle frame and the swap body being picked up. After all, it is almost impossible to drive under the swap body in such a way that it can be picked up without causing any scraping or bumping.
The 10 most important advantages of rubber buffers for vehicles, ramps, loading bridges and swap bodies
Rubber buffers for vehicles, loading ramps, transfer and swap bodies offer several key advantages that set them apart from other securing options.- One clear advantage is, of course, the price. Rubber buffers are inexpensive to purchase, especially when compared to other protective devices.
- The second advantage lies in their ease of manufacture. Rubber buffers are available as ‘off-the-shelf’ products, but can also be custom-made. They can be adapted to individual requirements. Rubber buffers are manufactured in different degrees of hardness depending on their intended use.
- Another advantage is the ease of installation. Even amateurs can attach rubber buffers without any problems. It is quick and easy to do. Even installation in hard-to-reach places can usually be accomplished easily and without complications.
- The fourth advantage of rubber buffers is their high load-bearing capacity. This is approximately 1,500 tonnes per square metre. Few other comparable protective devices can offer this high load-bearing capacity. Due to this high load-bearing capacity, it is not necessary to manufacture an enormous rubber buffer, meaning that rubber buffers require very little space.
- The high durability of rubber buffers is another advantage. Thanks to their special manufacturing process and high-quality material, rubber buffers have a long service life. It is, of course, important to ensure that you purchase high-quality rubber buffers. Cheap products cannot be compared to good, high-quality rubber buffers.
- Furthermore, rubber buffers are easy to replace. If damaged, the rubber buffer can be easily removed and replaced with a new one.
- Rubber buffers and ram buffers are becoming increasingly popular for transport in lorries due to their low space requirements.
- The buffers can be easily attached to the trailer and are generally inconspicuous, yet offer a high level of safety.
- But they also offer enormous protection at loading ramps and levelling bridges, even though they do not need to be large or conspicuous. If the buffer itself is damaged, it can be replaced quickly.
- Of course, the low purchase price is particularly attractive to consumers.
